As a modern parent, you have access to many well-designed pieces of baby equipment that can help make your life easier.
When you’re buying a stroller for your baby, you need to use your lifestyle to guide you towards the features you’ll appreciate most.
If you’re on your own with the baby a lot, then you’ll probably appreciate a one-handed folding mechanism, for starters.
With the overwhelming number of choices available, deciding which is the best stroller for you can be difficult.
In this City Mini GT review, we highlight this Baby Jogger model’s stand-out features, as well as any negative points we find, to help you decide if it’s the stroller for you.
Baby Jogger City Mini GT Review
American Brand, Baby Jogger, has been designing strollers since 1984.
These days, it now offers a variety of baby care products to help make life as a parent easier.
Its strollers, in particular, have a great reputation and are created to allow you to more easily get out in the world with your family.
When you invest in a Baby Jogger stroller, you also have access to some really handy, innovative add-ons with which you can customize your baby’s ride.
Who Is This Product For?
This stroller is perfect for parents who are looking for a stroller that can accommodate their child from birth all the way through to five or six years old.
It will particularly suit active parents who like to get out and about in nature.
It will also be a great choice for city-dwellers who don’t have too much free space for storage.
This stroller will also be suitable for taller-than-average parents, thanks to the adjustable handlebars.
However, don’t be misled by the brand name by assuming that all of their strollers are designed for jogging.
This model is not intended for jogging.
When you receive your Baby Jogger City Mini GT Stroller, you’ll probably be surprised at how small the box is.
Inside, you’ll find the folded-down stroller as well as one front wheel and two back wheels, which you’ll need to attach yourself.
Full instructions for connecting the wheels are also included.
Overview of the Features
Without a doubt, the best thing about this stroller is how easy it is to fold down and put up again.
In fact, this is also what most City Mini GT reviews say.
The patented method involves simply lifting a strap with one hand, and the stroller will fold itself away and will automatically lock.
This is such a fantastic feature, especially when you’re out on your own and have to hold your baby in one arm while folding the stroller away with the other.
Extending the stroller for use is just as easy.
You just set it on the ground, lift another strap, and it’s ready for your baby.
At 22.5 pounds, it is far from being the lightest stroller available, but it’s certainly a manageable weight for short distances.
The comfortable padded seat reclines much further back than most strollers to almost horizontal, which means you eliminate the need for a pram.
With the help of a neck support (sold in most baby stores), you can even transport a newborn baby safely in this stroller.
It also comes complete with adapters for the City Go Car Seat.
If you invest in this Baby Jogger Car Seat, too, then you can move your baby from the car to the stroller more easily, and (hopefully) without waking them.
This stroller has three all-terrain wheels, which makes it really easy to maneuver no matter what surface you’re on
The wheels feature full suspension, too, ensuring a comfortable and smooth ride.
A large adjustable sun canopy with peek-a-boo windows is also added so that you can keep an eye on your little one at all times.
Lastly, this stroller has hand-operated brakes, and the adjustable handlebars can comfortably accommodate parents of different heights.
How to Get the Most out of It
We really love the customization offered by Baby Jogger.
This sentiment is evident in many City Mini GT reviews, which are mostly positive.
Similar to any other product, the best way to get the most out of the City Mini GT Stroller is to take a look at the accessories the brand offers.
Your options include:
- Cup holder - mounts on the handlebars
- Compact pram - can also be used as a bassinet
- Padded carry bag - ideal for protecting your stroller while traveling, or in storage
- Child tray - handy for feeding time
- Gliding board - allows an older child to ride-along with you (the total weight limit is 65 pounds)
- Excellent one-handed foldability
- Suitable for all terrains
- Easy to maneuver
- Folds up small for travel
- Can be used for transporting newborns
- Large storage basket
- Range of accessories available
- Accessories must be purchased separately
- Not the most lightweight option available
- Quite expensive
If you’re on the lookout for a more budget-friendly, compact stroller, look no further than the Summer Infant 3Dlite Convenience Stroller.
Not only is it easier on the wallet, but it’s also much lighter in your arms, weighing just 13 pounds.
Lightweight doesn’t mean flimsy, though, as the aluminum frame this stroller has is extremely durable.
Unfortunately, it’s not as nice-looking as the Baby Jogger stroller.
Its four-wheel maneuverability isn’t as good either.
Without the all-terrain wheels and suspension, this model won’t offer a very smooth ride if you’re planning on going off-road.
This Summer Infant Stroller does have that all-important one-hand folding, though.
With the included carry strap, canopy, and pop-out sun visor, it would also make a great travel companion.
The Summer Infant 3Dlite Convenience Stroller is a pretty impressive stroller by all accounts, especially for the price.
While writing this City Mini GT Review, however, we fell head-over-heels in love with it.
As such, in our opinion, it’s a much better stroller if you can afford it.
Firstly, we’ve never come across a stroller that is so easy to fold down and extend.
Secondly, we love how easy it is to push around, taking on tight corners with a breeze.
We also appreciate how compact it is, so it’s perfect for those lacking space in their home or car or those who travel a lot with their babies.
The fact that it’s suitable for newborns is great, too.
It eliminates the need for another stroller or a pram for the first few months of your baby’s life.
Finally, the all-terrain wheels and suspension are just begging for you to take your whole family out on adventures.
